Close fight Whyte didn't fight a good gameplan, looked like he was trying to carry Franklin and was hoping he'd fade down the stretch but he didn't.
Boxing fans use this term "robbery " to describe any decision they don't agree with, and it's almost always applied to a close fight with lots of close rounds that could reasonably be scored either way, as is the case here. There are very true "robberies" in boxing as the term is properly understood. Sadly the overuse and misapplication of the term has rendered it virtually meaningless.
True! Not only are they in far worse shape, but they have delusional fans who have zero boxing knowledge making excuses for them. They say things like "he's more comfortable heavier" or "he's no fake bodybuilder-fighter" & all that dumb sh*t.
That's what I saw, Whyte has become the doorman to a shot at the belts. He'd have to beat an up and comer to regain contender status.
A lot of people are pronouncing Whyte as shot. Not sure I agree. He's fought a few 12 round fights before and it's clear from those that he's not a fighter who can be on the gas for 12 rounds. For example, his gas tank was competely empty by Round 12 against Parker. Unlike his fights with Parker and Rivas, Whyte just wasn't catching Franklin flush with his big shots for most of the fight and some of the credit there goes to Franklin. I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't expecting much from Franlin either, but there you are.
Might have been a close fight the problem is no way Franklin gets a close decision on a matchroom card! Happens all the time though just another issue with the sport at the moment
