Taylor's still trying to work out a fight with Trinidad. But if that doesn't work out his fall back plan he is considering is.... Brian Vera ( at 168 ) I realize that Taylor may want an easier opponent after facing Pavlik twice and doesn't want to risk that third loss in a row but this fight would make Cotto-Gomez look competitive.
Jermaine Taylor is close to my favorite fighter after Yuriorkis Gamboa, I tought he won the rematch with Pavlik, a fight with Bera wouldnt be bad since he needs to start slow and build back to that monster he once was. I still think he has what it takes to be the man again, just needs a few fights to get that confidence back in him. I just hope he dosent fight Trinidad... because Trinidad was my favorite fighter for about 6 years.
I actually tought he did. Watched the fight twice and saw the same thing. Didnt blame or couldn't blame the judges for their decicion, but that was just my opinion.
Me to, but it was a close fight so it could of gone either IMO, i had it 115-113 for Taylor the last time i watched it, but before i scored it a draw. I guess Brian Vera is a good test for Taylor at this point, i'd rather see him fight Vera than Trinidad personally.
Seems like an acceptable enough tune-up fight. It's been 3 years since he's fought someone ranked outside the top 5 of middleweight or jr. middleweight.
I really wanted Taylor to win too but I just didnt see it that way. I saw that Taylor gave it everything he had and showed alot of heart but he was just overmatched. BTW - Taylor runs through Vera. Good for Vera for beating the hype job form Ireland (what was his name?), but Taylor would destroy him...
I don't think Vera should go anywhere near JT. His win over Andy Lee did not show him to be "the real deal." It just showed us that Lee is not ready for prime time! Vera should fight strictly at 160, and take on someone like Ornelas, Marquez, Eastman, et. Boo
