Taylor's fight with Abraham, the first of three Taylor is guaranteed of having in the tournament created by Showtime executive Ken Herschman, will take place Oct. 10 at the 02 World Arena in Berlin. Taylor (28-3-1, 17 KOs) will fight on foreign soil for the first time as a professional. He hasn't fought overseas since winning the bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. "It's just like riding a bike," said Taylor, the former undisputed middleweight champion. "I remember fighting over there, and once I get over there, it won't be any different." Taylor follows up the Abraham fight with a fight against American Andre Ward, a 2004 Olympic gold medalist, in either April or May of 2010 in the United States. Taylor's final guaranteed fight will be against Denmark's Mikkel Kessler, the WBA super middleweight champion, in the United States in September 2010.
Taylor vs Kessler is a fight Ive wanted to see for a while..hopefully Jermain isnt totally ruined by the time he gets to fight him.
lol, worry about Kessler is he going to be the same mentally after been outsped by Ward and get his body butchered by Froch in a War in Denmark
Other than the fact that they will be speaking German and not Strine, and it won't be as hot as he remembers :nut
All three of these fights really are great. I think Kessler will butcher Dirrell, personally. However, I think Froch may get beaten by Ward and Abraham-Taylor is a tossup.
This is the best thing to happen to boxing in a LONG LONG time my friends. I can't wait for Taylor vs Ward.
Taylor-Kessler?! Poor Jermaine. I'm thinking he will suddenly develop an injury of some sort just before that fight On a wider note, I hope none of the fighters pull out of fights due to injuries. And we know that that is almost certain to happen at least once. In order to build momentum, we need as little postponed fights as possiible.
Calm down guys . I think he just means to say that the travel will be the same as it was when in Sydney. You know ? get on a plane ...travel ...you know? He wasnt boasting about anything .
If JT fights responsibly and paces himself correctly, I think he is capable of out-boxing both Abraham and Ward. I just don't see him beating Kessler, but 2 wins would get him into the semi-finals. I really like Taylor, so I hope he can pull it off.
Hey man, Taylor's one of my top favorites, but he doesn't even know the difference in some of the States in the US.:rofl Atleast according to an interview of Ozzel Nelson a while back on HBO.com. He talked of the first time he was takin' JT to a tourny in St. Louis, and Jermain thought that was still in Arkansas!:rofl Got to love the dude though.
