I don't care who you are if you take two or three years out of the ring it's bound to affect how good you could of been, he's still talented and in the grand scheme of things he looks the best at 154 off his nelson performance but I don't see him being the top dog because rather than leave the team he tried to rip off he re-signed with them.
Again I agree on the management part but he's not terribly inactive. Like I said he fought in June and had a fight 8 months before that. Yes that's inactive but I think 2017 should hopefully be a decent year for him and maybe he'll get two fights out of it.
The problem is his in Rigo mode, he's only chasing big fights but it's clear the rest aren't that keen on facing him. If I was managing him I would get him more fights with top 15 guys maybe the likes of Hatley, Jackson, Lubin, smith, Williams. Keep him active and facing good names eventually he will create the type of buzz that would force the top guys to face him.
Well I don't mind if he does coz it's clear he won't face Lara or his brother which leaves the division in a stalemate.
Yup I agree. Sometimes you can't face the top guns, even though I think with his talent he deserves it. He needs a good showcase match on showtime or hbo (whoever he's signed with) and he has too look great and create buzz.
He did against nelson but he ruined it by not following up with another good fight soon. I'm still baffled as to why he didn't fight smith before Canelo did so he could get back his WBO belt, and why the hell is he tryna fight Culcay for a version of the fake WBA belt, it's bizarre handling of his career if you ask me.
That is a little odd. I wish things were more simpler but unfortunately it's not like that. If he doesn't make any noise in 2017 and least fight twice this upcoming year, he's going to fall of the map.
I just saw a new post on the site that Lara vs Andrade is being discussed, with Andrade fighting Jackson as a tune up. lol maybe his team were checking out our convo, anyway if he they do get that match up made it would put him right in the picture again which is great for the 154 division.
With Lara? Can you link me the source and that would be an amazing fight. Their both slick style fighters. God that would be almost just as good as Charlo.
Unfortunately I don't have a twitter account but the thread is on this forum, yeah it would be good to see how Andrade deals with an equally slick fighter.
Lara and maybe Andrade have the skill of Williams, but I think have more confidence and experience to adjust. Williams was slightly outboxing Charlo with timing and counterpunching, but he was too tight, and at moments including before the knockout stood too straight up instead of moving to the side. The winner of that fight of course makes sense. Canelo likely won't happen, but two power punchers in them sure would be fun. I think Canelo's smarter and more patient than Charlo. He'll be wary of Charlo's speed, like he was Khan's, and won't open up early. He'll box box box, and look to time Charlo when he gets aggressive. I think after a few rounds he'll figure out his distance, and lay some bombs on Charlo to the head and body when he has the mental lapses he's prone to and gets sloppy. Canelo can take a punch, and I could see Charlo getting knocked out.
I would pick Canelo over Charlo, I had williams outboxing Charlo comfortably except for whenever he was rocked he was beating him to the jab and countering well, unfortunately his chinny. Canelo loves facing guys who dont move he has a solid enough chin to take Charlos power and he is a good enough counter puncher that he can take advantage of Charlos aggression.
Yeah I hear you, plus the talent needs to be spread out. He was really big over J Rock and somehow it just didn't register as two 154 pounders fighting to me. Good fight though. Then there is those other two guys coming up who will definitely have to go to 160, Hurd and Lubin. Spence and Brook will probably move to 154. Canelo going to 160 and 154 will still be loaded with talent.
Yeah he's dimensions are very big for 154 but I guess that's genes what can you do. I hope he does move up if he isn't gunna fight a top 5 guy, a lot of the 154 guys are huge so 160 will fill up as soon guys see a weakness in GGG in the meantime we need the top 154 guys to get on rather than bide their time for a Canelo pay day.
