According to his trainer and that was his last fight at light mw. What did Showtime say about his fight night weight?
The weight cutting era. Still not as bad as Tyrone Woodley of UFC who walks around at 205lbs (by his own admission) but weighs in at 155lbs.
Better drugs testing, 10lb rehydration clauses (8lb in the lower weight classes). It's weird how much the landscape will change. A boxer getting success in a lower weight class will have to move up and have his strengths negated by the size of his new opponents from the weight class north.
Walk around weight is the weight you walk around between fights. 175 would seem about right for a good sized LMW. Some guys weigh close to that in the ring
Wouldn't surprise me. He's taller and thicker than Golovkin it seems. I thought Canelo was the biggest guy at 154, but I was wrong. I'm glad he's moving to 160. Cutting that much weight is definitely not healthy for your body.
Taller yes, thicker? You gotta be kidding me GGG has a back like Anthony Yardes Charlo can make 154lbs and GGG looks emaciated @ 160, come fight night he looks like a hulk probably 180-185lbs
Walk around and in ring weight is not the same thing, like Hatton and Duran probably walked around @ 200lbs, they never come close to that in the ring. Woodley might look like a mess at 200lbs still BJS fights at 160 (in ring 170-180ish) walks around @ 210 Tua fought at 240lbs walked around at 330lbs
I walk around at 180 but could make 154 and maybe even 147 with the right training and nutrition. Just because someone balloons up in between fights doesn't mean they're too big (unless they're dehydrating off all that weight), just means they don't remain as disciplined when camp is over.
I think you're mistaken, Woodley did say he walks around at 200lbs but he fights in the Welterweight division of the UFC which is 170lbs. 155lbs is the Lightweight division of the UFC the one that Conor Mcgregor is the belt holder of. Still a 30lbs cut, but I'm sure Canelo does similar if not more.
