Tapales was getting stopped if the ref let him continue he was just out classed. He is smaller guy and missing badly. Looked like the Japanese boy was just too big and too strong.

Congratz to Iwasa. Deserves the victory..

First stoppage loss in over a decade for Tapales.. in fact, it's been over 10½ years, and that was a corner retirement at the hands of countryman Brix Ray. So, really, you can even now say that nobody has ever actually knocked him out cleanly & without controversy. :deal:

I'm really annoyed by that BS stoppage. Dumb ref with the KD call. Why is replay still not official in New York?? And this dumb stoppage. Tapales is one of the Philippines' toughest warriors. He didn't deserve that type of stoppage loss. If you saw his world title win in Thailand, you will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Not sure about that. Iwasa looked totally in control. But yeah he did start to look good around the 10 or 9 rd i think just not enough

Great counter left cross over the jab. I thought the stoppage was a bit premature, but Tapales did go down hard and did indeed wobble a bit after taking the count. The mitigating circumstance of hitting his head on the bottom rope actually worked against Tapales since it made it less likely that he could regroup and continue.

It's not the worst stoppage I've seen given the circumstances, nor even the worst stoppage I've seen today (there was a stoppage on the Saudi card that was awfully quick).

DSG returns to Showtime on January 25th, opponent TBA. He wants to return to Barclays, and he and the shill talking head Showtime panelist both talk about how much the fans miss "the DSG show". Ugh. Gag me with a spork.

Whoa! why you annoyed my brother? kid was losing every round nearly and at times i was thinking of taking him out of there because he was getting hit with big shots way too much. But Iwasa took care of business and took him out of there. Tapales should go back down in weight.

...what, Iwasa landing more, or Tapales at the higher percentage?

Iwasa would have been at risk of getting KTFO until the final second of round twelve. Just the kind of fighter Tapales is. He wasn't there gunning for a decision.
