What legacy? He was never anything other than a solid champion in a weak division who even then couldn't dominate as his fights with Castano and Harrison proved. People putting too much value on the belts and not on the quality of the fighters they beat and their actual skills. If you ever thought Charlo was a potential great then you DKSAB. Very little head movement, doesn't know how to counter, stands right in front of his opponents. Too many people equating athletic ability with skills, they are not the same thing. If they were Amir Khan would be an ATG.
It's a huge problem with dealing with younger 'fans'. Just look at the size queens of the board. "Iron MIke Tyson was too smal to beat Fury or Wilder..." Ugh....
Cant stand either of em.. always thought they were overrated weight grifters .. like a lot of this current US crowd .. privileged divas who think they can fight a host of bums then step up once in a blue moon & that is comparable to their great forebears like Whitaker, Hagler, Tyson etc.. laughable.. too many wankers & divisions in boxing today..
You were in the minority if you thought Jermell was a "lion". He was however a terrific weight bully. Turns out that's about all he was. Decent fighter though
Some fighters just fight for the money, which for us fans is unfortunate, but for them it's everything.
Soon this dude will be reported missing. Either that or he'll star in Missing In Action ( or won't star )
Jermell is a good champion at 154. Hes not an ATG at the weight but hes a live underdog for any 154'er in history...mostly from his weight bullying, but he had power too. Its easy to hate on Jermell today but hes a Top 10 PFP fighter at 154 until proven otherwise.
A lot of what you say here is nonsense. So what if his record isn't perfect. We want everyone fighting each other, not cherry picking fights to stay unbeaten. His legacy is secured. He completely unified the LMW division, dared to be great, lost and then turned down the Zoo fight, but relinquished all his belts to stop holding the division up. He doesn't owe Zoo a fight, if he was still saying he was champ then yeah fair enough, but he isn't even in the division.
Dear Diary Today was a good day. I managed to avoid him. I saw him at the Vegas Buffet, and I hid in the corner behind the plants ( fake ones of course ) We played black jack the next day at MGM, and when I saw him coming to the tables. I hid under the chair. In the food court that night, when he and his entourage walked by ( all 3 of them, they're not pussies like me. I walk with 20-30 ) I cowered behind the counter at Subway. And finally when we were on a plane together going over the grand canyon, I parachuted my ass the **** out of there as fast as I could. Regards, Mell.
When they asked Jermell why he wasn't actively pursuing a fight with Tim Tszyu Jermell replied that he was actually in the process of trying to make a fight with a guy named Art Vandelay and left a number for Vandelay Industries. The number was actually his brother Jermall's number and one day when Jermell was visiting Jermall, Jermell had to use the bathroom and sure enough the phone rang and it was Tim's promotor George Rose asking for Art Vandelay but Jermall said No you have the wrong number then Jermell overheard and came running out the bathroom screaming "Say Vandelay Industries!" But it was too late Jermall had already spilled the beans and confirmed that Jermell had ducked Tim and Jermell tripped and was on the floor with his pants still down. Then Al Haymon walked in and saw and said "And you want to be my undisputed light middleweight champion" and shook his head.
