    From my understanding, they are technically fighting for the interim title. This meaning the winner becomes the number one contender and the champ until the true champ returns.
    This is why interim titles were made in the first place. To have a champion until the true champ returns.

    I guess that depends on their rules. Them being the WBA, who are notorious for making up **** as they go along.
    I wouldn't hold my breath on Thurman facing the winner.
    And most likely Matthysse/Pacquiao will go down as a "true" WBA belt holder.
