Well the puncher Jermall couldn't stop Trout, so the boxer might not be able to either. But at this point Trout either gets stopped late or schools Jermell for 8 or 9 rounds sand gets robbed.
Trout is done at the top level. His reflexes have been declining for a couple years, but now his durability also seems to be gone. Fighting Hurd after a huge layoff without testing the waters with an easier opponent was a big mistake. Jermall would easily retire Trout at this point.
Still seems pretty durable to me, even after almost a year and a half layoff setting a torrid pace for 7 rounds he gassed, and still managed to soak up 3 more rounds of non stop punishment before his corner finally pulled him out. Jermell isn't a pressure fighter like Hurd, so I doubt he'd gassed as quickly against him, don't write Trout off so easily.
He probably wouldn't be going life and death if he was fighting Light Middleweights lately, but he's fighting massive Light Heavyweights who somehow boil down to Light Middleweight instead.
There's no official record of what their fight night weights are, but since Margarito was 165 in there with Pacquiao, and Geale rehydrated to 180 against Cotto, Hurd and Charlo were probably pushing 175 to 180 as well.
Wasn't in shape to go a hard 12 rounds. He was in with a giant 154 pounder in Hurd who kept the pressure on him all fight, and eventually succumbed. A sharper puncher may get Trout out of there at this point.
Trout wasnt like this back then. Now back to back he went to war with charlo and hurd. Gave them a lesson in boxing dam.
