He was a fringe contender type when the division was stacked. He got a shot against Spinks when the division was starting to weaken and he gave Spinks a decent fight.
Good boxer-puncher type from the Southern circuit back in the day when New Orleans was still a good fight town. Picked up some nice wins over the likes of Richie Kates (split a couple of bouts) and took Vonzell Johnson's zero. Was one of James Scott's Rahway opponents and showed well against Marvin Johnson in losing a split verdict. Has a few losses on the end of his record as he seemed to cash in after losing to Spinks, but was better than his ledger would suggest.
