Jerry Quarry alleges a conspiracy against white boxers?

Vow, this thread went weird quickly. Quarry lost the final of the WBA tournament to Ellis and soon after he lost in a challenge to Frazier's part of the championship. Had he won instead of lost those fights he would have been undisputed champion (or at least as undisputed as he could be with Ali in exile). He lost, but he did get his chances.

Then he lost to Ali twice and to Frazier again. Had he won those fight and not received a title shot you could definitely say he was hard done by, but he didn't win. And the he lost his last chance at a title shot by losing to Norton, who got the shot the next year.

This all makes perfect sense. What would have been weird would have been if he had jumped the queu on the guys he lost to. Was he better than Stander, Roman, Wepner etc? Of course, but so were many fighters.

Was it racial bias that made Tommy get KTFOd not only by Mercer but also Bentt? Some weird stuff coming up here.

Norton really beat him bad. Norton’s style should have been easy for Quarry, considering that Norton was notoriously susceptible to left hooks.

Jerry was shot before stepping into the ring against Ken; he was a last minute sub for Ringo who bowed out for whatever reason.
Granted Jerry was 'whining' a bit but...'racist'?...geez that term gets so tossed around in the day and age of PC shlock.
I think, prior to this clip, Jerry once said: "I'm the only white contender of any consequence so I have all the black fighters I face overly motivated. They called him 'racist' then but what he said was the truth. Lastly Earnie Shavers and Mac Foster attended Jerry's funeral.
Jerry was a decent man, despite his abuse demons, and to even attempt to call him a 'racist' should boggle any decent thinker's mind.

What got you booted?

 

I made a thread posing the question of whether or not there was a bias against large white HWs.
I pointed out a pattern that exists where the label "oaf" is exclusively used for white fighters.
I then got banned for posting "racially inflammatory garbage."
The kicker is that im not even white lol.

 

That is really sad. Progressive left is not interested in facts and certainly not any sort of freedom of expression.

Well I’m sure that person is incapable of understanding is that he exposes himself as being both a racist and hypocrite. Any authority granted him will be abused weather it be in on a boxing forum never mind in the real world.

 

It had more to do with Ali being a charismatic megastar and the top guy in boxing more than him being black. Larry Holmes clearly didn't have Ali's charisma and found out the hard way that he couldn't get away with saying whatever he wanted without facing backlash. Tyson also got away with saying downright outlandish things due to his amazing drawing power and popularity as the top guy in boxing during his prime. Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe, or Ray Mercer would've got crucified if they tried saying half of crazy things Tyson said.

 

That's certainly no reason for banning you, as I see it.

But if it's any consolation, I got banned last year for a thread asking how many of those that rooted for Kovalev against Ward were Trump supporters. Perhaps not a question that always gets honest answers, but it was asked with an honest purpose since all the anger against Ward was so over the top for me that I suspected some racial grounds behind it.

 

Charismatic or not, Ali did earn his shots at the title with the exception of the Spinks rematch.

Quarry got two title shots in the 60's, against Ellis and Frazier, but in the 70's he lost every time he was in eliminator like fights. To Frazier, Norton and twice to Ali. That's why they got the shots and he didn't. There's really no mystery to dissect.

 

The full Shavers v Quarry fight mentions that Quarry was suppose to get a Foreman title shot with Foreman coming off the Roman fight. Foreman instead took on Norton, and then Ali, making Quarry get demolished by Frazier a second time.
