This has probably been done before, but I'm curious to see how the classic forum thinks Jerry Quarry would do against guys like Adamek and cunningham, et.
Jerry would do very well I think. Probably would be the champ. Quarry would be fighting men his own size for a change. If quarry was competitive in what many consider the greatest era in HW history then he would excel in today's cruiserweight division.
i don't think he would do so well because of the more stricter fight stoppage policys involveing cuts .. he had an awesome style and could carry his own all true but he was still a bleeder regaurdless .. and things wouldn't get any easier for him now
Good question. He would still be the smaller man however, people like Haye and Mormeck come into the ring at 215 pounds.
He would be very competitive After going against the likes of Ali, Frazier, Shavers and Norton, the current cruiserweight crew doesn't look that dangerous :yep
Though Jerry did beat the **** out of guys that big anyway. And Im not totally sure Mormeck would come in that heavy..You got any confirmation on that Russ? Its just he was really a light heavy who hit the weights hard to come up to cruiser when it was 190, when he was nearly 30...and was happy to keep doing that when it moved up to 200.
Simply put, Adamek does not have the skill to deal with Quarry, and Cunningham does not have the chin. That's my opinion.
People would talk about Quarry and Evander Holyfield being the two best cruiserweights since the division was created.
However, if we throw Corbett, Langford, Dempsey, Tunney, Jeannette, Sharkey, Patterson, Marciano, Charles, Walcott and Co in the mix, look out !
