Jerry Quarry - Gerry Cooney - Tommy Morrison, Round Robin?

Prime Cooney is the safest option. Quarry probably beats Tommy.

 

I’d favor Cooney to beat the other two

 

I think Morrison was the best of the bunch both boxing and punching. Cooney could catch him but I imagine Morrison boxing him up and stopping him like Spinks did. Quarry too small to deal with either.

 

Cooney stops the other two.

Quarry is the most well rounded of the three but his size might be an issue. Cooney had the size & great punch but was pretty lumbering. Morrison has the great punch & good hand speed but bad stamina a shaky chin. Throw them in a blender and you come out with a really good heavyweight! Quarry’s toughness & warrior attitude, Morrison’s offensive polish, & Cooney’s size & power.

 

If these gentlemen were all the same size I would go with Quarry. He had the best chin of the three and was probably a slightly better defensive fighter than either of the other two. But they aren't all the same size so I'm going with Morrison. IMHO Morrison hits the hardest of the three and I think Cooney would crumble when hit by Tommy. Quarry most certainly would not crumble but he would eventually wear down. I have Morrison by decision.

 

That’s a fair assessment but Gerry Cooney had more than enough power to KO Morrison with and was just as fast of a starter. Neither man had a great chin either

 

That's very fair. I think I should have said that I think that Cooney didn't have the fortitude to go head to head with Morrison in a shootout.

 

My heart says Quarry, my head says Cooney.

 

I would definitely pick Quarry to beat the other two. Better boxer, and, much tougher than the other two. Quarry bested the Morrison of his era (Shavers) as well as men like Ron Lyle and Patterson. I guarantee you he would not be scared of Morrison one bit. And, I think he would outlast Cooney after weathering some heavy leather for the first few rounds.

 

I also see Morrison coming out on top for reasons stated.

 

Dont go with the idea that Jerry is to small he dealt with Shavers and Lyle.My pick would be Quarry to beat both Cooney and Morrison.Believe Cooney would beat Morrison

 

Leaning towards Quarry after this. Lyle was much better than Morrison and Cooney imo.
