Didn't Foreman rumble with Liston in sparring, early in his pro career?

I know Foreman says Liston backed him up and could hit. Don't know how Quarry would whack the **** out of Foreman in sparring around the same time period if Liston, even an old Liston, couldn't manage it.

The beating Quarry took from Norton was the beginning of the end. I've been watching boxing since Marciano and the Norton/Quarry fight was one of the most severe beatings ever taken. Sure, his problems were the result of cumulative punches taken, but this one appeared to have broken the camels back. The fact that Jerry's brother Mike also lost his life due to taking head shots would suggest they were both genetically pre-disposed to brain damage from punches. The shot Mike received from Foster was one of the most tremendous left hooks ever thrown. I had the priveledge of meeting Jerry at one of his training camps and he was a really nice guy. Have a nice picture of Jerry and myself with Jerry holding my son in his arms.

Well. at the time of the Norton fight Jerry got very deeply involved with cocaine abuse and drinking. He and his starlet wife were party animals and Jerry was a manager for the rock group 3 dog night...He admitted he should never had prostituted himself vs Norton and he was abusing himself outside the ring with drugs and booze and hardly trained for Norton

The ref in that fight just let it go on & on after Jerry pretty well shot his wad at Norton early in the fight. If you can't back Norton up, then it is very hard to beat him.

The 2nd Quarry-Frazier fight in June of 1974 was also very one-side in favor of Frazier.
