I pick Quarry by early stoppage, possibly a 3 fall TKO.

    Thoughts?

I pick Quarry by Ko aswell, but Im feeling later. I dont know why, if cruiserweights could do it quickly there is no reason why Jerry couldnt but I just feel he doesnt blast Leon out, he breaks him down.

Just a better a fighter, with the better resume.

Even after losing the belt back to Ali and the fight before Holmes Spink's stopped the ultra tough Bernardo Mercado, one of the most underrated fighters of the 70's.

Sometimes I think the toll drugs can take on a fighter lead to some being underrated after their falls from grace.

Which Leon Spinks are we talking about? The Spinks up till the time of Holmes would have given Jerry a fight. Admittedly, he would have been stopped but certainly not in the early rounds. Maybe somewhere in the middle rounds.

The later Spinks would have been TKOed within 3 rounds.

Leon Spinks is really not a very good fighter to try and gauge in fantasy matchups. His prime was very short and inconsistantly brought about in spurts. In his first meeting with a diminished yet still reigning Muhammad Ali, Spinks looked as good as anyone could with only 7 pro fights. A year later however, he was floored 3 times to a TKO loss from Gerrie Coetzee. Then he came back to have a pretty good winning streak in 1980 by beating a few decent names, only to get stopped in 3 by Holmes. That's basically the end of the notworthy part of Leon Spink's career.

I really can't see Spinks beating Jerry Quarry. Perhaps on his very best night ( whenever that was ), he may have troubled Quarry or pulled off an upset, but Jerry is the clear favorite here.

Quarry would have destroyed him in a few rounds ... the fight is a joke.

Jerry Quarry would be too much for Leon Spinks. A win for Jerry probably by KO.

Coetzee talked to Spink's during their fight and completely psyched him out.

It's not different from Carter calling Griffith a ****** at their weigh in and then blowing him out in one.

Mentality played the biggest roles in both those fights.

Not saying Leon was great, but their are comparisons.

Uh so an opponent talking **** to you is a justifiable reason for getting your ass kicked in a fight? :huh

Geese, if anyone saw Scotty LeDoux catch Leon with those overhand rights and still wonders who would win this fight.....

BIG DEE HERE= Quarry in one rd, maybe two as Spinks was the worst fighter ever to hold the heavyweight title of any sorts. This fight is a slaughter from the opening bell. Quarry would be laughing at Spinks before the opening bell at ring center.

Spinks was kind of a flash in the pan, and never all that skilled. Quarry may be the best heavweight never to win a world title. This fight is a mismatch. Quarry would do ...... whatever the hell he wanted to.

When you look at the intencity that Jerry employed against Frazier in their first fight, i can not see Leon coping with that, Jerry also has Skills defence and Mobility to call on againt a forward charger like Leon, Jeer a bit too much of a handful i feel, Stops Leon before the 5th
