Slight tangent, thread got me to watch Chuvalo vs Quarry again, enjoyed that one. Thanks for that.
Either guy could have won this, Quarry should probably be favoured but I wouldn’t bet big money on it.
Both Williams and Quarry were very good fighters in an era with some great fighters. Their willingness to show up and fight anyone pisses all over the current era of alpha-belt champions.

 

You missed the boat on that one.

 

The knock against Williams was that he looked like a world beater until his opponent started to come on and then he was done.

 

Hie had zero issues with endurance. In his bout with Terrell (with damaged hands no less) he went ten rounds easily, and Terrell was actually the one fading, and holding on for dear life.

 

Williams would be a punching bag for Quarry, like Spencer,Shavers,Lyle and Foster were.
