Quarry had a lot of trouble with Ali. I really can't see Quarry being able to get inside on Terrell, and even if he could, I don't know that it would do much good; Terrell was a nightmare inside. Terrell would quickly cut Quarry up with that lightning bolt jab of his. If it goes 15, I see Terrell controlling the first 3-5 rounds on the jab. Terrell slows down, and Quarry dominates the middle rounds. As the fight reaches the double digits, Terrell would re-establish control with the jab. Anyway, it be the kind of fight I would pay money to see.
Ernie decisions Jerry comfortably over 15. The latter can't get in close enough or often enough to do any damage to Terrell who would jab to keep Quarry at bay and whenever Jerry gets close 'The Octopus' ties him up.
Terrell stops him on cuts. Horrendous matchup. Terrell keeps him on the outside all night, and Quarry won't be able to get inside. His counterpunching style also wouldn't be nearly as effective against a guy with a tremendous reach advantage who knew how to use it.
I agree with your post and will stick with it. But as a side note, Terrell did not always make the best use of his height and reach. If that guy had learned to capitalize on it as well as maybe set down on his punches more he might have been an ATG
This … it’s one case where physical advantages would matter. Although I would put Quarry higher historically than Terrell, although as noted many times here I don’t always base my ratings on who would prevail H2H.
