I wonder with Norton though, they fought with Quarry quite past his best and Jerry hurt Kenny with those body punches before being stopped. Closer to '70 I would give Jerry a decent chance of getting over enough right hands to make it close or stop him.
Quarry was done...through..as in way past his prime when he fought Norton...now the version of Quarry that beat Spencer, Mathis and Lyle..throw in Shavers...I think you have to rethink the Quarry-Morton prognosis alltogether.
With all due respect Mr Magoo Bodell was a complete joke he was the epitome of the tomato can - he didn't even belong in the ring - he couldn't stand right his punch technique was woeful, he looked like somebody who's never even had a fight in their life trying to imitate a fighter and he had a chin that was just crying out to be hit - fair dues Quarry did what he should've done with him - but lets not be under any illusions here Bodell was laughed at even over here in his own country beleive me. But Quarry man he was a no nonsense fighting man
Well, at this point he wasn't a very good contender, but he did beat Bugner, Sonny Moore, and London. He had pretty fast hands in his prime and had good ring generalship--in his prime. though he was finished as a fighter at this point. it was still a good win for him believe me Bodell was still looked upon as a decent contender. Good win for quarry.
I remember at the time some felt that perhaps Jack Bodells extreme acqwardness, allied to his willingness might indeed befuddle Jerry, But of course Jerry soon put a stop to those thoughts ! Jack then confined himself to thoughts of the European scene ...ooops ! Basque Rock Thrower Jose Urtain then flatterned him ! ok so there was always his own UK backyard ....Er..Dan Mcalinden pulled that rug away as well in a very crude quick blowout , Few fighters have there illusions of contendership scattered so quickly.
