    How'd we think?
Quarry at his best, transported back to the time when James J Jeffries ruled the division?
I'm going to say 20 rounds to decide.
All the old rules and gloves.

Interesting !! not seen this match up before, initial thoughts are JJJ will be too big and too strong for the always game Quarry, I mean we have not got a lot to go regards Jeffries, some of the Johnson fight, little else, going by the fight reports of the day, he was indeed a very formidable HW seemingly impervious to punishment, with an unbending will, thinking with all Jerrys courage and no quit attitude it would still seem to big mountain for the ever breve Quarry to surmount, the length of the battle depends on how brave the ref is, I see JQ stopped after 8/9 rounds. keep well.

    Cheers Mike.
Quarry would have to be imo one of the best challenges that Jeff faced. Certainly one of the most skilled. Jeffries would have an hard time actually getting to grips at first and Quarry makes him look basic and awkward.
But, there always a but, it's a long fight and Jeffries would be happy to keep swinging.
Quarry, brave guy, ends up tired, hurt, bleeding and by the last couple of rounds, out on his feet.
I'll go JJJ by Ko 18.

If this is in Quarry’s era he beats Jeffries like a drum till the ref saves him.

He probably would, Kam, but him fighting in the early 1900 s and the longer distance plays in to Jeff's hands imo.
It's that long fight that gets him, cos Big Jeff has a few under his belt.
Even so, I see JJJ s face swollen after Quarry counters him repeatedly. It would be one of Jeffries harder title fight s.

In Jeff’s era Quarry would be a fish out of water I think Jeff just grinds him down and wears him out in the clinches.Jerry would have no business wrestling in that era with his clinching skills.

Howz I see it to. Quarry would be worn out just trying to get out of some of those clinches.

Which man shows up In Quarry's corner?
If it was his father, Quarry slug it out with JJJ and gets stopped in the late rounds.
If it was Gil Glancy, Quarry box, move, counter punch and easily outpoints James. That's if he had the stamina to go 20 rounds with his opponent.

Well to that, I'd say who ever brings out the best in Jerry, put that guy in the corner.

I've never seen anybody manhandle Quarry in clinches. Besides Chuvalo's RIDICULOUSLY given holding and hitting to an art! Jerry threw up 220 lbs in the superstars 1974 first go around with ease, no experience and no technique. Another we will never know time machine differant era bouts, I would go with Quarry, Remember they only fighter to out slug Quarry in his prime for that matter was Frazier!- At 6 feet and a stocky 200 lbs with speed, Jerry could look Jack Johnsonish vs Jeffries, And besides that punishing counter punching, Jerry could sock!

I don't think Quarry ever fought anyone with similar experience in grappling though. Besides, Jeffries was bigger than majority of Quarry opponents.

Jeffries was 6'2" and a lean 218 lbs, and powerful, he was known as a physically strong man. I don't see what could possibly lead one to the conclusion he wouldn't be strong enough or skilled enough to replicate Chuvalo's success on the inside.

Quarry: 6 matches lost by knockout.
Jeffries: Never down once in the first of him.
Can Quarry resist to the power of Jeffries?
He was pulled down by Chuvalo ...

    Jeffries win.
