Well said, which era this would be fought in decides the fight. Against both Sharkey and Corbett Jeffries was well behind going into the 20th and thats when they faded and Jeff won, Jerry doesn't impress even at his finest as having that kind of endurance. By all accounts Fitzsimmons punching power was enormous but he was only about 174 lbs when he couldn't hurt Jeff with flush punches to his head, could Jerry have done more damage with his right hand at 198? If fought in 1967 Jerry wins clearly over 10 rounds but is stopped around the 14th in a 15 rounder.
If quarry has any chance of winning he has to get Jeffries out of there before the fight goes too late. Jeffries’ strength and long range stamina coupled with Quarry’s tendency to cut and bleed would present a problem in a long range fight. Especially if we’re scheduling this according to early 20th century rules
I loved Jerry, loved watching him fight, but, against Jim Jeffries? IMHO, Jeffries beats him in any era at any distance. Easier with old rules, and with some early difficulties with newer rules, but Jeffries prevails either way.
Quarry really puts on a clinic for 4 rounds at his best, but gets worn down and stopped by the much stronger - mauler that a Prime Jeffries was. Jim Jeffires I have noticed is suddenly popping back up on peoples top 10 again. He was an incredible champ and an unstoppable machine in his prime. He is one of those all time natural athletes we seldom see.
Jeffries never fouight the guys Quarry fought,or even beat the competetion Jerry did at least 9 topten wins and 5 by knockout, number one contender by both Ring and WBA. AS FAR AS BEING STOPPED 6 TIMES, ali and Frazier would also stop Jeff.
