Walcott would win,by late rounds tko. Jerry would be outboxed, and would tire out.

Walcott UD, Jerry may hit the floor from pin-point punches

Yes, that's my call too...Jersey Joe by a decision, with a knockdown or two to punctuate the win. Walcott would have been a disaster, stylewise for Quarry.

Walcott makes Quarry look amateurish and wins impressively, maybe even by late round stoppage?

cuts would certainly be possible as Walcott was a very sharp puncher and quarry cut like wet paper

Joe at his best wins UD or TKO, Joe better at everything, thats not to say Jerry would not have his moments.

Walcott is better in about every area...

He's the same size, but he's faster, hits harder, slicker, has more tools, is more versatile, and a better counterpuncher than the counterpunching Quarry.

    Bad news for Quarry.

He basically a beats Quarry at his own game.

Quarry sometimes boxed when he should have slugged, and slugged when he should have boxed. Walcott could look great one night, or merely above average on the next. While Walcott was quick and skilled, Quarry was aggressive and a pretty good counter puncher. I'll go with Quarry on points because he would be more active. Coin flip type of fight.

Good point, I might add Quarry was wildly inconsistent himself. You never knew which Quarry would show up.

The Quarry vs Spencer, Jerry wins a decision.

The Quarry vs Chuvalo, Joe wins a decision.

If Quarry fights Walcott the same way he fought Ellis, he gets mostly outsmarted and outpunched by the quicker man. He was a counter-puncher and did not like to lead, but he did have a very solid chin and was a good bodypuncher when he wanted to be. Quarry was surely as tough and strong if not more so than a Rex Layne, it's just that he did not have the same kind of mentality to go in there and fight it out, unless the fight was brought to him.

I think Walcott would've won a pretty clear decision over Jerry. Walcott was just flatout better in just about every area and it would show during the fight that Quarry was good, but Walcott simply being a class or two above Quarry in the skill department would be the reason why he won.

We are talking about both men at their best...

Quarry looked like **** vs. Frazier x2, Chuvalo, Ali x2, and Norton... all stoppage losses.

He beat Lyle (before Lyle peaked) by decision and stopped Shavers in 1.

He also beat Thad Spencer (seriously, so what?), Buster Mathis, and Mac Foster among others.

He won a very close decision over Patterson and drew with him as well. He lost a close decision to Jimmy Ellis. He was outboxed by Eddie Machen.

Walcott did better things vs. better fighters.

Walcott went 2-6 in HW World Title fights-

He beat Charles 2 out of 4 times, stopping him once. He gave a good account of himself in all 4 fights.

He lost to Louis twice. Most felt Waloctt won their first fight including Louis. He gave Louis trouble in the rematch but was stopped in the 11th. He dropped Louis 3 times.

He lost to Marciano twice. He gave Marciano trouble in their first fight and was ahead on points after 12 rounds. Walcott was stopped in the 13th. Marciano stopped Walcott in the 1st round of their rematch. Walcott retired after the 2nd loss to Marciano. He was 1 of only 2 men to have ever dropped Marciano.

He also beat Jimmy Bivins, Joey Maxim 2 out of 3, and Harold Johnson KO3 among others.

He also beat Elmer Ray 2 out of 3 and lost a close decision to Rex Layne in an upset.
