People seem to love Jerry Quarry fantasy fights, so here's one against a contemporary of his that he never fought. Bugner was six foot four and sometimes weighed around 230. How would Quarry have done against him?
Might be a bad style matchup for quarry but bugner could find ways to lose fights he should have won so quarry would have a decent chance.
Bugner would probably go into defence position for this fight, and Quarry would get the UD. However, in Bugners perfect world, he could flashback to "Richard Dunn night" and possibly get a stoppage on cuts, but he would have to be fired up of course.
Would have been an excellent move for both men circa 1973. All depends on Bugner's approach. He COULD beat Quarry but only if he really fancies the job.
This would be awkward for Quarry as he would mainly have to initiate the action and he was better as a counter puncher. Bugner would try to work behind the jab and if he had his busy and motivated head on as he did against Frazier he could win a decision here but it's more likely Quarry wins a fairly boring UD.
