15-rounder at the Garden. This is peak Walcott, around 1946-49, & Quarry of the late ’60’s, top of his game. Very interesting match to watch unfold, IMO.

I’m honestly leaning towards Joe Walcott. Not that it’s a guarantee nor would it be easy but I just think that his crafty skills and style wouid make him less prone to walking into Quarry’s counterpunches. He could also crack pretty good too and withstood some beatings from some fairly hard hitters.

I think Quarry has the edge here. Physicality, youth, equal if not more consistent skill. He gets on top of him, maintains "skilled pressure" and wears him down. Joe just wasn't that impressive.

If Walcott almost beat Marciano....he beats Quarry.

At his absolute best, Walcott beats Quarry decisively imo. But anything other than his best and he may just get caught

I am picking Jersey Joe Walcott to win over Jerry Quarry by a TKO between the 9th and 12th rounds, probably because of cuts.

Walcott arguably beat Joe Louis in 1947. And although Louis was past his best, he was still formidable and better than any version of Quarry, I would wager. The best Walcott by UD vs Quarry

Walcott is too slick for Jerry who did great against sluggers/punchers but not the best against technical boxers.

Unless you think Quarry would beat Marciano...
