Random fights of fighters who were not champions in the heavyweight category, The winner advances in the tournament Jerry Quarry vs Michael Grant Prime vs Prime --- Who wins?? 12 Rounds
I’m going with Grant. Yes, Jerry quarry had better skills and ranks higher all time. But I don’t think he had the kind of power to make grant fold and could only counter him for so long. Grant had many flaws but he hit extremely hard and was a very big and strong man. His resume is underrated too. He beat a lot of high risk-low reward fighters like Golata, Purity, Butler, Gonzalez and savarese. He wasn’t the bum that people make him out to be. Sidenote: I’ve always felt that Grant’s loss to Jameel McCline was a dive. I have no proof but the fight looks too fishy to not be suspicious.
Grant, while a hype job, did have long punches and was a lot bigger and more powerful, Quarry may struggle to get past that.
It was a strange fight, after that defeat Grant's promising career went downhill, it would not make sense for him to have given up the fight, although it was strange. We could add Robert Davis, Corey Sanders, Obed Sullivan and Izon.
Quarry would beat the hell out of Grant. Prime vs prime. It's levels in boxing, and Grant wasn't nearly as skilled as Jerry Quarry , his only advantage would be his size, but size without any real skills would end with a one sided beat down. Especially if Quarry fights with discipline, not with emotions as he sometimes did. Quarry also beats the hell out of Dubois .
Yeah that punch that McCline him with look like it had nothing on it whatsoever. But Grant did seem to have a leg injury from the way he fell and got back up. And yes those other men you added were tough opponents too. Grant for all his limitations is underrated.
