Jerry Quarry vs Michael Spinks

Searched and couldn't find one already done.

Interesting fight I could imagine going several ways.

12 rounds.

Quarry could be outboxed, but I don't think Spinks would do that. He'd be in and out with powerpunches and combinations most of the time, moving at all angles.

Quarry would attempt to box his way inside to land to the body and time counters as Spinks came in.

Doubt its a stoppage unless a cut happens.

Quarry would probably be busier, which would be the difference.

You got to wonder if Spinks the "bigger guy", would allow himself to
get tagged by Quarry's power shots?

Jerry Quarry:

Its a close fight imo .I don't see either man really hurting the other and neither would dominate .I'll give it to spinks getting a decision due to his awkward style ,but its close enough for a rematch .

 

I'd favor Quarry, he'd hurt Spinks

 

Spinx by ud. Quarry was too aggressive at times and spinx would use that against him. Even when calm and focused quarry wasnt as technically sound as spinx who was a pure "professional" and wouldn't humor quarry if he egged him on for brawls or exchanges. If quarry couldn't convincingly beat Ellis I definitely dont see him winning convincingly against spinx unless he managed to land something big and drop him to tilt the scorecards in his favor.

 

Spinks by wide decision

 

Quarry decision over 10-12 or 15 might even stop Spinks over 15. I think a 10 rounder would be Michaels best shot. I just don’t see him beating Quarry.

 

Put into words what I was thinking

 

Quarry in a SD. But can def see Spinx coming out on top sort of a toss up

 

He sure wouldn't disgrace himself like Cooney did vs M. Spinks. Yes, that's d.i.s.g.r.a.c.e.

 

A chiseled, non-coked, non-personal issues Jerry in prime would be too much for Spinks. If Jerry suffers a bad cut then that could be a difference. Otherwise, I don't see Spinks seriously hurting Quarry at any point. To the poster that mentioned Quarry's fight with Ellis?
Apples & Oranges. Their 'scrap' was a 'snoozefest' in Oakland. Jerry laying against the ropes waiting for Jimmy; Jimmy standing in the center of the ring waiting for Jerry? Spinks will come to fight, know he's in a fight, and would taste some major leather!
As I said, without bad cuts, Jerry UD or late stoppage.
