Don't get mad at me, just asking.

    What happens?

Any chance at all for Jerry?

  2. quarry wud display counterpunching ,
    movement ,
    skillz ,
and his fighting hr8 against Marciano .
but it wud not be enough ,
he wud likely get beat later on like 1st frazier fight ,
    imo.

A fighter like Quary always has a chance, but in this case I suspect it is a slim one.

This would be a blood fest.

Yes, Jerry has a chance as he has faster hands, and more skill than Marciano. Jerry had a pretty good chin ( better than Charles, Walcott, or Moore ), and had plenty of stamina to spare. An under rated counter puncher with the hook, Quarry will see plenty of chances to land vs. Marciano.

Marciano hit much harder, was stronger, and was the smarter fighter. Both guys had issues with cuts. This would be a great match up. I'll go with Marciano late, but Quarry would have his share of moments too.

I agree with your thoughts. Quarry would give a very good account of himself, but would probably lose in the end.

I was hesitant in posting this matchup. I once posted this matchup on another forum and got laughed at for it.

There are no fans like Marciano fans. ;)

I too favor Marciano but it would certainly be no walk in the park. Quarry could punch, box, counterpunch, take a punch well and had good handspeed. Marciano probably isn't taking Jerry out with one shot. Frazier couldn't in thier 2 fights and Jerry met a peak Frazier in '69 and gave him quite a fight before succumbing. Shavers landed a few bombs on Jerry before Quarry ko'd him and Earnie is considered by many to be the hardest punching HW of them all. Marciano will have to walk Jerry down so to speak and get him later on in the fight. But there's one thing that might help Quarry and that is the fact that Rocky, although a pressure fighter, didn't apply it as fast as Frazier which might give Quarry a little breathing room. If Jerry boxes smart and utilizes his greater handspeed and lands some cutting counterpunches he might possibly win it on cuts, I know it's somewhat of a long shot but it is possible. Quarry was no pushover and he competed in a HW division that was deeper than the one Marciano ruled. As I said at the top of this post I still favor Rocky in this one but Jerry has a live chance.

Quarry, Jimmy Young, Cooney and Lyle would all destroy Marciano. I've never seen a real Marciano fight in real color. You can't say that about Quarry, Young, Cooney and Lyle. They were mostly in color.

Marciano was levels above Jerry in quality but Quarry was a tough guy, Quarry was a lot easier to hit than Charles or Walcott ...and Marciano hit a lot harder than Chuvalo ( WHO STOPPED Jerry ) i THINK THE FIGHT IS COMPETITIVE FOR THE first few rds and Marciano's stamina and work rate take over around the 5-6th rd and I see Jerry getting battered on the ropes, hitting the floor, getting up and having RSF in about the 7th or 8th rd Marciano TKO Quarry

Bah!... that's nothing compared to the mighty powers of 3D AND HD!

I happen to have seen Haye in both, and in my (expert) opinion he destroys all those bums!!

After eight it's simply too much Marciano ... either TKO or lopsided decision ..

Pretty even fight if you ask me.......

Marciano of '53 up against Quarry of 1970. Who can ask for more fireworks?

Quarry would love to face an elite fighter who was actually right around his size...

I say Jerry Quarry is a live underdog in a time machine against Rocco Marciano...

Both Quarry and Marciano had solid jaws, yet tender skin... Cuts and Blood would be the key to one's downfall here...

Punch-4-Punch is also pretty even... Marciano never KO'd anybody Quarry couldn't stop if he were beating on the poor S.O.B. in the same manner...

The fighter who has the better cutman and bleeds the less would win...

    Toss up...

Quarry said he mistimed the count vs. Chavalo. It looks like he could have got up earlier. Charles was not too hard to hit in the Marciano fights. In fact he unwisely traded punches, and kept up his attack.
