    Quarry vs Jess Willard
    Primo Carnera
And Buddy Baer. Could the 6 foot tall 195-200 pound Quarry prevail?

No. Quarry gets lauded as the uncrowned 70s champ who would dominate any previous era if he wasnt misfortunate enough to be competing in the 70s.

Carnera got through Loughran, Uzcudun, Sharkey and Schaaf. There's no reason he can't outwork and beat Quarry on points.

Baer beat the snot out of Galento. He also has good wins over Nathan Mann and Lee Savold.

Willard withstood a beating from Johnson and he came out for round 2 after the slaughter that Dempsey put him through in the opening round.

Obviously, Quarry has a chance for an upset but I wouldn't bet on him.

Quarry beats Jess and Primo easily, probably beats Buddy too, but Buddy goes the distance in a competetive fight.

I would think so too, until @Pedro_El_Chef gave his post. If Carnera could beat the above named, he could possibly beat Quarry.

Quarry gets KO'd by all 3 in my opinion.

If Carnera could beat Loughran, Uzcudun, Sharkey and Schaaf, then perhaps he can beat Quarry. I don't know about KO him, but it might not be such a foregone conclusion in favor of Quarry.

Interesting. Size matters up until it comes to a guy you like, then it becomes irrelevant.

It's an interesting subject but I should mention that it's not like Quarry didn't have success against the bigger man. They may not have been as big as the 3 mentioned in the OP, but Ron Lyle, Buster Mathis, Mac Foster, Larry Middleton, Billy Daniels and Tony Doyle weren't exactly flyweights and all enjoyed quite the height and reach over Quarry. Looking at the 3 man-mountains picked I would pick Quarry over Willard, but I think it would go the distance (let's call them all 15 rounders). Big Jess was so slow I could see birds building nests in his chest-hair in between wild swings. Quarry would counter-punch Jess into knots. Carnera just didn't have the kind of jaw that was going to hold up to a Quarry counter. Quarry by KO in that one. As for Buddy Baer, he could be the easiest because Buddy didn't use his attributes to his advantage. For a guy that was 6'6" I believe, he fought so small. Hardly any distance in his feet, his mitts held tightly up to his head and he would scrunch up his shoulders like he was slouching. I could see a Gil Clancy or a more modern trainer teaching him a wider stance and extending his jab to keep the opponent at bay. But this style would play into Quarry's hands. But hey, it's just my opinion on the subject.

Quarry should be given a chance against all of them but I’m guessing he gets mixed results

I think he could win all three, lose all three or any numerical combination of wins or losses along the way. I do not see any sure things here.

But I’m starting to see Quarry get put on the same kind of pedestal here that Ron Lyle has been, as far as to how he’d fare in mythical matchups with folks.

I expressed my respect for Quarry in the Foreman thread, but I repeat, IMO there was a solid ceiling which this man was never … n-e-v-e-r … going to exceed, even if he’d gotten some breaks (and he certainly got aa huge one in the first Patterson fight IMO) and luck and opportunities along the way. And even when he is mythically matched against past fighters.

My impression is that he probably gets green squares and red squares on Boxrec here.

    Hi Buddy.
A couple of observations, if I might be so bold, Quarry was never, repeat never, lauded as an uncrowned champ believe me, I was an avid boxing fan when he was in his prime, and while considered a tough test for many other HWs of his era, he was not looked upon as a uncrowned champ, leave that title to , Langford and Burley amongst others, also not with you on Johnson dishing out a beating to Willard, he threw his punches sparingly, and would coast if he could, have not seen the fight for a while, but Willard appeared fairly fresh and unmarked at the finish, so just my interpretacion on matters.
    stay safe Pedro,chat soon.
