Quarry was a pretty damn small guy, but then again Povetkin struggled with small guys

This would be a good one, I lean Povetkin but maybe I haven't watched Quarry at his best.

This is a perfect fit for Quarry, a big strong fairly slow opponent, that's not very nimble on his feet, E,rmmm maybe a style like : Lyle, Shavers, Foster, Alexander, he just loves em, so for me Jerry outboxes Povetkin for a fairly comfortable win, or if Povetkin wants to stand and trade with Jerry ( mistake ) then he would find himself hurt and bewildered , and possibly stopped, or RSF, unless your name was, Ali/Frazier you were in for a beat down, oh how I loved reading, then watching Quarry over the early 70s decade, not sure if my memory serves, but didn't big ole Foreman have reservations about locking horns with Jerry ! . keep well.

Povetkin is the rare nearman who actually did only lose to the best and beat the rest, even on his off nights he gets the job done one way or another.

Quarry is a fan favorite that people say only lost to the best, but in reality he was quite erratic and more of a niche fighter then people like to remember him as. On his off nights he finds a way to lose fights that were in the bag, he struggled mightily against faster fighters, technicians, and even folded under pressure from a washed up Chuvalo.

Povetkin holds every advantage except for hand speed but he has superior stamina, power, durability, and is maybe the best heavyweight technician of his era. No way he is getting outboxed by a dude with a 72" reach.

    Povetkin decision.

Povetkin (why does autocorrect change his name to pocketknife lol) wins a clear 8-4 type of decision

Slow ? Povetkin in his prime was significantly faster than quarry. Not saying he'll win it but Povetkin is no slouch

In the win column Quarry’s resume looks better but that’s only half the tale. Jerry was stopped, floored and outpointed on more than several occasions in his career. Sometimes to elite fighters and other times to men who weren’t so elite. And against the elites he was beaten fairly easily. Alexander Povetkin differs from many of Quarry’s conquests in that he has a complete package. For one he doesn’t walk into counter punches. For another he possesses skill, durability, stamina, power and discipline.

I see Povetkin stopping quarry in the mid rounds

Fair enough, you make some valid points, sept when you say he was floored, and stopped on several occasions by fighters that were to use your phrase " weren,t so elite " apart from who I have mentioned, and Norton , ( Chuvalo fight was strange ) cant remember who else did ? enjoy your posts, keep well.
