6 foot and usually weighed about 200 pounds. Thats VERY small for todays standards. Prime Povetkin is 6'2 220+ so compared to 70s heavyweights he'd actually be a relatively large opponent.

I was wrong. Credit where credit is due he didn't seem that fast in highlights against Frazier and Ali and other opponents but he seems quick in these.

    But Povetkin is also quick

Not saying Quarry wins, but Povetkin is pretty chubby. Being 15-20 lbs fatter than someone and 2 inches taller is hardly a significant "size" advantage". It's not like Povetkin has a huge reach advantage and is going to be sticking his jab out to bully Quarry at long range, he's a front footed come forward boxer and the fight will likely be held at close range given their styles.

That being said, I'd favor Povetkin to win at least 60-70% of the time. He had very solid fundamentals, a little more power, better defense. Quarry was a better counter puncher and finisher, but could easily get drawn into slug fests or abandoning his technique to slug. Stoppage is unlikely unless Quarry gets cut or walks into a nasty hook when they trade.

Take a look at Jerry Quarry vs Thad Spencer in 1968, Quarry vs Ron Lyle in 1973 and Jerry vs Earnie Shavers in Dec 1973. Jerry was a fantastic combination puncher. He hung in there with Joe Frazier for 7 rounds in June 1969.

The Jerry Quarry vs George Chuvalo fight took place in Dec 1969. The fight against Ken Norton was near the end of Jerry's career in 1975.

A decent blueprint for this fight is the Povetkin vs Chambers fight. I'm not saying Chambers and Quarry are all that much alike but there are some similarities between the two that are relevant. Chambers was a very good counterpuncher but not on the same level as Quarry was. Chambers had a ton of success against Povetkin early on in their fight but simply ran out of gas which is something that didnt happen with prime Quarry. While I will acknowledge Chambers was quicker than Quarry, Quarry certainly would have a speed advantage over Povetkin that he would be able to exploit.

Bottom line, I like the sharp counter punching of Quarry in this one. I don't think size advantage that Povetkin has would do him many favors. Chambers was only an inch taller and maybe 10 pounds heavier than Quarry and he definitely was getting the better of Povetkin in the first half of that fight. As much as I like Chambers he was simply not as good as a prime Jerry Quarry who was a harder puncher with much more stamina and a will to win at all cost. Povetkin's only chance is to catch Qaurry with a shot that stops him which is possible but my money would be on a Quarry UD.

Povetkin was far more like to bring his A game.I like Povektin's defense, focus, and power better here.

Povetkin likely by late round TKO. Quarry will try to keep the pressure high, but is not strong enough to KO Povetkin. Jerry will wear himself out. I see him with a swollen, bruised face in the late rounds.... keep walking towards Povetkin in a self destructive manner. "There is no quit for a Quarry" I think he took this just too much literally.
