I can't pick Bowe over Jersey Joe, Bowe was a good big man who took a solid chin but got hit way too much, Walcott had the speed, footwork,ring-smarts and believe it or not better one-punch power and accuracy....Walcott would have to be up for the fight and have a solid game plan, I see him rocking Bowe, but moving side to side keeping Bowe off balance and not getting set and JJ taking the UD, could drop Riddick along the way or stun him a few times. Joe has to tie Riddick up on the inside and be careful but he should hustle his way to a win over the easy to hit but durable Bowe
Abe Simon was before Walcott even had a proper trainer. We are talking about Walcott, the crafty Champion as specified in the opening post, not Walcott the dock worker who boxed on weekends to feed his family. Why would you bring this fight up and than insist on "in-shape/Prime" Bowe. Rather hypocrticial. I haven't seen anything from Bowe that suggests he was as effective as Maricano and Louis at breaking down, setting up, and knocking out cute boxers. His footwork was notoriously lacking and along with his non-existant head movement and defense was a weakness that always plagued him. Just plodding forward and throwing a jab isn't working on someone as dynamic as Walcott. Bowe is going to be getting tagged alot, chasing his man from corner to corner, and struggling to even get anything off let alone land clean. This isn't Evander bouncing on his toes in his face, looking to brawl, he's going to have to earn ever punch in this one. To his credit he's a durable fighter and has the potential to finish this if he can find a home for his right hand bomb, he's going to be dangerous the full fight, but he never showed me the late finishing ability of a Louis or Maricano to make him my favorite here. Sorry.
