Top video Rummy. Many boxers in that time had to come up the hard way, and almost all took losses making their way to the top. It wasn't then how it's now, where most prospects keep fighting overmatched opponents up until their first test, and then usually still get the nod if they actually lose that test keeping their precious O. I wonder who that dude was who was trying to make a case for top10 ATG Moore to be featherfisted
Great video as always rummy. Your so right about how you shouldn’t just look on some website for a list of names and how there’s often a story behind losses. Also your spot on about how one loss doesn’t take away everything else a great fighter has achieved in there career or can go onto achieve in there career. One swallow don’t make a summer as the saying goes.
Beautiful video, wonderful editing and a very, very necessary message for today's day and age. Loved it. While people have always had a tendency to judge off incomplete information, the internet, for all the wonders of instant information, can make many prone to snap judgments without looking at the proper context. They see the number of losses on Walcott's record, and instantly disregard him as a fighter. The same phenomena can be seen in about any area where people take a quick glimpse into the past by the magic of modern video, and dismiss old films/music/fighters without understanding the context of the times and situations, without being willing to put in the work that it takes to appreciate the genius of a Joe Walcott. That's not to say that all that is past is superior, but history must be judged fairly.
Brings me back to someone talking about times when there was no fight footage to study. Imagine fighting someone like Mayweather without having seen any footage on him. Yeah, good luck with that. The guys from back then went in there, gave it their best and learned the hard way. Walcott is a legend and was an absolute monster.
