Apparently he spent quite a lot of time in Jinx's camp before the Cooney fight. Seemed to look quite well in those years as well. Penny for your thoughts/more information?
Larry interestingly mentioned in his bio he was encouraged to be nice to the old timers, giving them jobs or money would get you favours with the judges. I believe that's part of the reason Jersey Joe was there he mentioned Moore as another name with a similar arrangement which adds an interesting layer to things IMO.
I adore every tape of old George in which Archie can be seen. Moore is one of the few non-controversial paragons of the sport, bar perhaps being a tad petty on the Marciano fight.
Foreman should’ve listened to Moore from the start he disregarded his advice stupidly and paid for it, If AM had been his head trainer from the beginning and if GF wasn’t a young “dope” he’d have been more, wouldn’t be champion so soon but a better fighter by far and Larry’s rival instead of Ali’s punching bag. Speaking of Ali… another one who made the mistake of not listening to his elders, wouldn’t have taken a 10th of the hooks he did if he’d listened to Moore, wouldn’t have a famous chin or toughness and he could’ve fought inside but instead he knew better right out of the Olympics (amateurs) just like GF.
