Some of these questions are downright silly.James Toney was a middleweght-lightheavyweight at most.To even think he would in his best day [truly as a middleweight], he would have a prayer against a prime [we are talking primes] Jersey Joe Walcott is ludicrous. Toney as a heavyweight was old and fat at that time. Jersey Joe,would be too powerful a puncher, againsta safety first defensive Toney...
while i agree about the outcome bb, i think their styles would mesh well and create an interesting chess game. walcott wouldn't just pound away, trying to outwork him. it'd be a very tactical war with walcott coming up ahead most rounds. Walcott wide UD in a true fans only fight
Wally of '51 and age 36 / 37 would be a little too cute for '03 Toney just cuz Wally had better legs, but the fight would be very tactical and a wee bit boring over 12 to 15 rds.... Toney baby would be there all the way 'til the final bell without ever in danger of getting stopped / parked.... A classic boxing match of the sweet science....... No war ever breaks out here....... Joe Wally by a couple of points in a tactical encounter..... MR.BILL
Walcott and Toney remind me of each other. both crafty, had the counter right. toney studied walcott, ezzard charles and archie moore. I don't think either would get KOd. Toney to me was more refined with his great head movement and shoulder roll. I don't see a wide unanimous decision either way. They'd probably have a trilogy because the fights would be so close.
