Both in their respective primes. Who wins?

Excellent fight! I lean towards Quarry in this one. I like his counter punching although I could see him getting cut by the very accurate and underated puncher that Walcott was.

I kinda like Walcott. He wasn’t the slow come forward type heavyweight that quarry beat. He was a crafty slasher who could outsmart you and make you pay for your mistakes. Of course all this is assuming that Jersey is at his best.

Slow come forward heavies are the ones who gave Joe Louis the most difficulty.

How so ? I wouldn’t describe Walcott, Schmeling or Charles that way

His most difficult opponents were Abe Simon and Buddy Baer and Primo Carnera.

I pick Walcott for SD too. Maybe TKO on cuts in middle to late rounds. I think Quarry would give Walcott the kind of fight Rocky did, except with a little less slugging, and a little more boxing. The fight would be less exciting since both were counterpunchers (maybe). Despite that, it would be a great scientific fight with lots of wicked exchanges interspersed throughout the fight. Rugged brawl!

that's not a compliment coming from a guy who probably thinks that Joey Archer would KO George Chuvalo in one round.

A prime Walcott would give Quarry real problems. Joe was a mover but certainly not a runner. He was a precise and fast counter puncher and even at 38 years old was schooling Marciano until Rocky caught up with him.
When you look at Quarry's fights with Eddie Machen, Floyd Patterson and Jimmy Ellis, Walcott is the worst kind of opponent for him.
I'm a huge admirer of Jerry's but I really can't make a case for him against Walcott who I imagine taking a pretty comfortable decision.

Joe by UD, and that's not a knock on Quarry and it wouldn't be easy. I think Walcott's overall ring generalship would carry the day
