Both show up at their best for a fight over 15 rounds?

The very best version of Jim Braddock could have given a lot of fighters trouble, but I think he's a tad too outskilled here. Walcott had the boxing ability along with the power and accuracy to slice and dice Braddock over a number of rounds enroute to a wide decision or late stoppage.

No stoppage here. Walcott wins wide on points, something like 10-5.

These two are very evenly matched. Similar career stories too.

I think Braddock might well outwork Walcott.

A chance for Walcott to display his finery..and he would indeed in a 15 round decision over a very game but outclassed Braddock.

Walcott was just the far superior boxer and wins by UD, maybe Braddock decks him?

Walcott,by a runaway decision. Just too good for the 'Cinderella Man' in all ways.

Walcott lost to such fighters as Rex Layne and Abe Simon, he had close wins over Joey Maxim.
I don't see why people think he "outclasses" Braddock. Prime v prime.

Both these guys had patchy journeyman records.
And had success making comebacks off the bread line.

Braddock gave a prime Louis a few problems after a 2-year absence from proper fighting.
Walcott fought a relatively past-it Louis.

An unreliable barometer for gaging these two fighters. Remember that Ali barely squeaked by Ken Norton and had life and death with Joe Frazier while Foreman blew these two away...etc.,..

An unreliable barometer maybe, taken in isolation..
But these two are on the same level by any barometer.
One isn't "a class above" the other.

    Taking each in turn:

    Rex Layne-pressure fighter

Abe Simon-Walcott so far from his peak that it is irrelevant.

    Joey Maxim-technical boxer, arguable robbery.

Walcott woulda been too slick and skilled for Braddock if both met I'm their primes IMO, I think Jersey Joe walks away with a wide UD, and leaves with his face still lookin pretty

I agree here... A technical fight for 15 rds with too slick cuties trying to out-do each other... Joe Wally gets the nod after 15 rds of BOXING! Braddock game and has moments, but falls short on points...
