15 rounds, both prime, who wins? The Jones that beat Ruiz? Or the Walcott who knocked Ezzard Charles out, outboxed Louis and gave Marciano one of the hardest fights of his career?
Sorry, but we have to say the obvious. If RJJ is not on PEDS, he has no chance here whatsoever. We don't know how good Jones really was. Period. He tested positive for androstenedione, and should have faced consequences. For those who want to pretend that it never happened, I still think Walcott is too much a combination of tricky and hard-hitting. Jones' victory over Ruiz was a function of Ruiz being an unorthodox fighter who won a lot do to chin and holding. Could even roided Jones have beaten an ATG heavy with a broad skill set? My guess is no.
Walcott times him, catches him and that's all she wrote. But Jones speed may have kept him in the fight for somewhat longer.
I wonder what people’s replys would be had Roy retired after Ruiz or the first Tarver fight. I don’t know who would win but it would be some fight. Knowing what we know now I’d say Walcott catches him but if you’d ask me prior to the second tarver fight I’d say he would win no problem.
What consequences? Androstenedione was legal, over the counter and not banned by the sanctioning bodies whose titles Roy held in 2000. Indiana didn't even have authority to test for it. Which is exactly why Roy didn't pay a fine, wasn't suspended and didn't have to relinquish his titles. Because even if it is chemically a steroid(which it is) and a PED(which it is, albeit a weak one), per the American law and the sanctioning bodies rules it was a legal over the counter supplement at the time. The designer steroid control act was only enacted in 2004. Roy did not break any rules in boxing or in the law at the time. That's a fact. You can look Into it if you like
Nah even if Roy Jones retired undefeated after Ruiz I'd still say Walcott wins. Walcott hits harder, is craftier, has more stamina, and has proved himself against better competition
Walcott is smart enough to catch Jones it would take a few rounds to figure him out might actually be boring to start with whilst each guy feels out the other. Once Walcott figures him he'll catch him and end it.
Montell G gave Jones fits ,Jersey Joe has him fighting the human equivalent of a Rubik's cube.. And to top it all, Joe nails him hard to take Roy out before the final bell .
