Jersey Joe at his best would be hard for Joshua to find

 

I hate to go against old Joe as he is one of my favourite old timers but the size difference is just too much. He might shuffle his way past Joshua’s jab but then what? Joe’s hook wouldn’t reach the chin. A good right maybe but can you seriously see him knocking Joshua out. Anthony stays on the outside and wears down/walks down Joe.

People watch a few clips of Jersey Joe shuffling side to side and get mesmerized, always found it hilarious how he did it against Louis in the second bout then Louis blasted him with a right cross and stopped him.

Walcott gets walked down the highly unpopular AJ and gets knocked just like he did against Abe Simon.

Exactly. Walcott is so overrated. He lost 1/3 of his fights and people act like he was just this hard luck fighter. As if no other fighter in the 1930s was down on his luck. The bigges guy he ever fought, who was pretty clumsy and nowhere near as skilled or athletic as Joshua knocked him out. Im not even a Joshua fan but he would kick this **** out of Walcott.

 

Andy Ruiz has the same reach as Walcott. He didn't struggle to find Joshua's chin once inside. Seriously, for a shorter boxer inside or a pocket is where he thrives at, being able to put together combination and beat the larger puncher to the punch.

Jersey Joe Walcott consistently appears on the list of the hardest heavyweight punchers of all time. Rocky Marciano whom he knocked down named him the hardest puncher he ever fought.

Joshua was hurt before. Nothing to prove he can take a solid counter from Walcott without being hurt.

 

People are saying it's extremely easy to overrate Walcott. He peaked later in life and had some obvious flaws. Taking on an old Louis in deep waters isn't the best argument. His style was the troubling for Louis, Joe would find him in his prime down the stretch.

All in all, Walcott was a great fighter. He doesn't have the aura of invincibilty imo

 

No disagreement here. That's the beauty about sports. Unorthodox methods can overcome "by the book" technical skills. Duran was the ultimate trickster, and he's praised for it. Double standards my guy lol

 

Walcott did at times look mesmerizingly skilled. But in reality that was not his average level of performance, and he could pretty much never keep that level of talent up for more than a couple of rounds. Joe Louis 1 being the only known exception, but we don't even have the full fight.
