How would the best AJ do against the best of Willard. Willard was at one time the best heavyweight on earth in an era where there was only 1 champion.
They are similarly **** at boxing and Willard's only saving grace, his stamina for a big man, will not matter here
Joshua very quickly, Willard had primitive technique in an absolute sense, and boxers these days have more effective techniques defensively and offensively, and also have more ways to set up punches.
Boxers in the times of the 1910s had good technique though the demands of the rules at the time were different, Willard specifically was just a caveman and notably so in his time. He knew nothing of the science whatsoever and profited off of superb timing and being a spectacle more than anything, though he was notably a hard worker in his youth at least.
Jack Johnson was skilled for his time, but the techniques he uses were relative to his opponents primitive technique, yes the rules were different, but even modern bareknuckle, which is the most similar ruleset, they use modern boxing techniques as opposed to late 1800s-early 1900s boxing techniques.
That is because the new bareknucle is nothing similar to the old bareknuckle, along with the fact that the old techniques were forgotten and are no longer taught. Johnson's style was made for his ruleset and time and body and was very advanced and technical. Evolution is simply a change to fit a new environment. We are not better or worse (disregarding PEDs). Boxing has just changed.
Willard would suffer the same way as Helenius, he would hold on for a good amount of time, but in the end he would be knocked out cold...
