I would go with Willard. Sanders had power and speed, but he generally lost when he stepped up in competition. Willard would likely survive the early rounds, and take Sanders out later in the fight when he ran out of steam.
Who did Sanders actualy beat apart from Wlad? Sanders is the ultimate example of a fighter whose reputation hangs on one good win. Willard might not have been great, but he knew how to use his size, could hit like a ton of bricks and was durable. Probably too much for Sanders.
Sanders via UD or later round TKO. Willard was just horrible on defense. Sanders could out box him, or beat him to the punch. Sanders did not have a glass jaw. Conditioning, which at times was a problem for Willard too was his biggest problem.
Thanks Mendoza I just won a tenner I had a bet with my son that you would pick sanders . I knew you would pick sanders because if you picked Willard it would not look good on wlad

Please don't in anyway compare sanders to Dempsey . Willard slow I don't think he was a slow as you try to suggest and I can't see sanders keeping the pace that Dempsey set although I do think sanders speed of hand would be a concern for Willard. Willard chin and the toughness he showed in the Dempsey fight would be enough to get him through the early rounds. (Remember the gloves will be bigger than in the Dempsey fight) I would also suggest that Willard might well of hit harder than sanders it's a pity that Willard had to live the fact that he killed a man in the ring . Mendoza I have not once mentioned early ko's so I don't see the relavence of your comment

I have the Johnson and Dempsey fights on disc but thanks for posting the link anyway . I am not suggesting Willard was Ali foot wise but I don't think he was as slow as you think . And your wlad comment I may of misread but did you say sanders beat a prime wlad . That does surprise me to be honest as usually klit heads like yourself will call others haters for suggesting sanders beat a prime wlad
Sanders blasts him out of the water in a few rounds similar to what Dempsey achieved. Willard looked like an ambling oaf when up against handspeed and Sanders hit faster and probably harder than Dempsey... and threw in combinations. Even the most sadistic, hardened 1800's ref would stop this slaughter after a few rounds.
