However, Hrga hits harder than Dempsey.

 

Hrgovic by decision. To Jess' credit, he's one tough cookie.

 

Nobody want to wait and see how Hrgovic turns out before making him the prohibitive favorite?

 

I'd say he's proven that he could take Jess, even if you think Zhang beat him it was still a very impressive performance

 

I vastly prefer Hrgovic over Willard. As far as I'm concerned this is a massacre.

 

It's not too late for him to turn out to be a bust.

 

Based only on what I know now, I would expect such a fight to go the distance, and I would slightly favor the Lineal Heavyweight Champion, Jess Willard. After I see more of Filip Hrgovic, I may or may not change my mind. I want to see Hrgovic against someone like Usyk, Fury, or Joshua...or even against the current version of Deontay Wilder. Then I could get a better idea of exactly how good Filip Hrgovic really is.

Hrgovic took some dynamite punches from a hard hitting southpaw in Zhang. His chin is strong.

 

I was actually pretty surprised when watching old footage of Willard-Moran. Willard is much more defensively conscious than I thought he was, he uses a sort-of shoulder roll and he rolls with right hands pretty frequently:

Even in old age against Dempsey, Jess seems to show some decent defensive fundamentals for a big man of his era:

He may not be on Hrgovic skill level, but I feel like portraying Jess as a lumbering oaf completely devoid of skill isn't accurate either (also, where tf was this defense in the Dempsey fight?!)

 

Filip all the way, no contest. The new generation always beats the old gen.
