No, see, the difference is that Botha fought guys that actually make the top 10 lists of all time and are ATG's IN THEIR PRIME whereas Willard is not an ATG and his best win Jack Johnson was well faded. Botha's era eats Willard's era up as a midnight snack.

Getting KOed in 2 rounds is not an impressive achievement, no matter who youu are against.

Botha got KOed by an extremely faded Tyson. Beating a faded ATG is far more impressive than getting knocked out by one.

    Whp did Botha actually beat?

    Willard, easy.

Beating that version of Johnson was a huge accomplishment. Of course he was way past his prime, but he was also 225lb, fast as hell for his age, and was landing terrific combos on Willard.

Johnson went on to defeat Pat Lester in a 15 rounder, 10 years later!

Botha’s footage can be viewed with electric guitar music in the background, and all of a sudden he smokes out Willard? Please.

Tyson went on to beat Savarese, Nielsen and Etienne. Who did JJ go on to beat? JJ was more faded than Tyson and frankly Tyson > JJ anyway.

Hoffman and Bostice are reasonable scalps. Most people feel he beat Schultz and he ought to have gotten the decision against Briggs as well.

Again: Botha's era is STACKED compared to Willard's.

Ok, I'm done, you're obviously either dishonest or just an idiot.

Willard was clearly way past it in the Dempsey fight, and no one is saying that was a great achievement.

The only person that fits that description on Botha's record is Lennox Lewis, who KOed him in 2 rounds, in Botha's prime.

He beat Briggs and was robbed.
Tyson was mentally all over the place but he wasn't physically shot until a couple years later when he got fat and lost his speed vs Nielsen and Lewis.

If you call that version of Tyson shot then Holyfield Beat a shot or nearly shot Tyson. Because Tyson kept training after the bite suspention

Tyson was completely shot after serving his time in prison, since his timing, conditioning, and speed were long gone. Also, training isn't a substitution for fighting. Joe Louis continued training during the war and even fought in exhibitions, but it wasn't the same as consistently fighting ranked competition, since after the war he was shot, since before the war he was fighting at least 3 times a year much like Tyson was in the late 80's. Lack of ring activity against good competition on consistent basis destroyed both Louis and Tyson.

However, even a shot Tyson could still punch, which is why he was able to beat guys like McNeeley, Bruno, Mathis Jr., since non of them take punches well. However, against durable opponents Tyson was kind of useless at this time, since he didn't have the speed or combinations to take the durable guys out like he used to be able to and was no longer hard to hit. In the Botha fight the announcers were talking about how shot Tyson was until Tyson eventually landed on Botha, who stupidly kept standing straight in front of Tyson.

I totally agree with your assessment. And I was at every Tyson comeback fight through Holyfield I to witness exactly that first hand. Only for short glimpses in the Bruno II fight did he even remotely resemble his former fighting form.

And Willard got slaughtered by a 180 pounder (minus whatever he carried in his pockets), essentially in one round. That certainly was not an impressive achievement.

No one claimed it was. Willard was certainly not in his prime.

Lewis and Wlad were prime when they fought him.

I'll pick the version of Tyson that beat Botha over both Willard and JJ as they fought.

Great, so how did those fights turn out for Botha?
