The Willard that beat Johnson up against Fury over a long distance ,say 40 ,could possibly get a decision win .I can't see Fury keeping up his concentration for that long tbh !

It would be a very demoralizing fight for Willard. Can't even imagine the look on his face when a giant Fury starts peppering him with punches from all angles while maintaining distance and easily thwarting Willard's attempts to mount an attack.

If its a small ring, Willard has a chance. Otherwise Fury to outbox Willard, but if Willard lands a good one, a come from behind KO can happen.

Willard was getting the better of Frank Moran. Its on film and not that hard to obtain. Could be on you tube.

In fact Willard looks better vs Moran than Jack Johnson does.

It'd have to be pretty small. I still think Fury has a suspect chin and Willard could hit hard if nothing else. I suppose a puncher's chance. IMO of course.

You’re overrating Willard..he has no shot to land anything on Willard if the far superior Wlad couldn’t land anything.

Frank Moran wasn’t fit to carry Tyson Fury’s spit bucket!

If wlad couldn’t land anything what makes you think willard will?

Even a 39 year old wlad would kick the crap out of willard

I actually don't, not in a regular sized ring. If they fought in a shoebox I guess Willard might have a chance although I wouldn't bet on it.

    Stop.

This isn’t 1895. They ain’t fighting in a phone booth, they ain’t fighting with 6 oz gloves, they ain’t fighting 45 rounds...this is a boxing match, not a marathon. This is 2018. Modern rules.

    Fury would absolutely clown Willard

Willard fans are priceless. Almost every famous championship fight throughout history has been 15 rounds..but when it comes to matching Willard in fantasy fights, we hear “in a distance fight”. Because Willard’s technique and skills are so poor, their is no way for him to be able to win any 15 round fight except by outlasting someone the way he did to a tired fat jack Johnson in the blazing heat...

Perhaps you are building Fury up into more than he was here?

Yes his win over Wladamir Klitschko was very impressive, but it is literally his only good win.

He is obviously very unstable and inconsistent, and if he had more than one fight against a rated opponent, he would very likely start to look like Jack Sharkey, i.e brilliance mixed with mediocrity.

If he comes back, I doubt that he will ever regain anything like his previous form.

    Willard has fans? OK.

I'm not exactly a fan of ol Jess but let's give him at least a little credit for having heart and being a bit of a tank.

Then you need to specify in the OP. Modern rules, modern ring ... as I stated before, I think Fury clowns him.

Good point. Fury is afflicted with the Buster Douglas syndrome. We're so blinded by the excellent showing against Wlad that we forget the time he was decked by a cruiser, and when he managed to punch himself in the face. I do feel that Fury has the talent to be truly special, but I think he's one of those guys that manages to scrape together enough focus for a single great performance and then slumps back into mediocrity again.

You’re overrating Fury too. I think you only saw one fight Fury had. I saw all of them.

Jack Johnson was harder to hit than Fury was. Steve Cunningham landed well on him, knocking him down. Chisora landed well on him. McDermott landed well on him and was robbed on points. A Canadian substitute guy called Bevin pajkic flattened Fury with a right hand.

There’s been a lot of bloopers with Fury. His whole career was televised. It’s not just a case of Cunningham knocking him down or the time Fury managed to wallop himself in the face. There is a lot more than just that! He was blasted to the deck by pajkic. He should have lost his first match to McDermott and possibly the first fight with Chisora. Then there is the drug test failure and the retirement to avoid retesting. It’s a whole bundle of things.

There is certainly enough there to even things up for Willard.
