Jess Willard vs Tyson Fury, who you got?

    Battle of the awful, technically hopeless, lumbering giants. Fought over 12 rounds with modern rules and gloves. As many have noted Tyson Fury "may as well have been brought through a time machine taking him from the 20's right into the current era with his **** poor style" so let's actually match Fury up against a similar type of fighter from that era, step forward the Tyson Fury prototype Jess Willard. I see this as a real 50/50 fight that could go either way. I slightly favour Fury though in this one due to his Gypsy never say die attitude.

    willard had better stamina and durability (from reports) plus a passable jab. i'll take big jess in one of the worst fights in ****ing history

    Both look ****ing shite but, Willard beat better men. I'm going with the person with the much stronger resume.

    No way Fury lasts as long as Willard did against Dempsey either.

    Both are wank - BUT Fury has fast hands for a tall superheavy,, so he does get a UD

    Willard fights like he is constantly UnderWater.

    Fury is certainly better than Firpo, for my money, the worst Heavyweight title challenger I've ever seen.

    big jess was a freak for his day and had huge advantages over all the guys he ever fought, but unlike today all the guys around then could all win competitive fights. flickery film wont show this of course but if Jessie truly were nothing but an inept giant he would not have gotten past the guys who he did. Any rated middleweight today would wipe the floor with the biggest basket ball, football, rugby player or wrestler at boxing and so was the case then. It always has been. Willard could fight.

    Tyson fury would be a better fighter if he lost 40lb, he’s young and should not be rated as a world class fighter yet. Therefore it is unfair to mention him in the same class as Willard. How many opponents has Tyson Fury met yet who could fight? To compare we should only count the competitive fights he has had. He’s really only about 2-0 so its crazy even making a comparison.

    I always criticized Willard.....he looks really bad on film (even in the Johnson fight)....

    But even with modern rules and gloves I would pick Jess here......tough fight with Willard winning by late TKO

    Willard wins easily telephone pole left jab , right uppercut,and top chin. The only reason Fury goes the route is Jess was too cautious. Fury is chinny,and possesses only average power.
