Jess Willard vs Tyson Fury, who you got?

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Ryan O'Reilly, Jan 31, 2012.

  1. Battle of the awful, technically hopeless, lumbering giants. Fought over 12 rounds with modern rules and gloves. As many have noted Tyson Fury "may as well have been brought through a time machine taking him from the 20's right into the current era with his **** poor style" so let's actually match Fury up against a similar type of fighter from that era, step forward the Tyson Fury prototype Jess Willard. I see this as a real 50/50 fight that could go either way. I slightly favour Fury though in this one due to his Gypsy never say die attitude.

    Who you got?

Willard. The clumsy **** rep he has is a little unfair.

I go for Fury because boxing skills have improved a lot since Willard's time.

True. He also had stamina and could take a horrible beating.

How many rounds? This is vital.

Up to 12 - Fury would outwork Willard, although there's a strong possibility Fury could get KOed.

The longer the fight, the better Willard's chances.

    Willard in the 12th.

I'd rather see it done under old rules though, probably go for Big Jess in about the 48th then.

Modern boxing technique has come on?!? This is Tyson Fury, not Wladimir Klitschko!

Fury seems tough, but I'm not sure he's Willard-tough.

Given their equally rubbish skill-set, I'll go with the guy with the bigger heart.

They are both ****, but Willard lived in a time when his size allowed him to dominate, he was like Valuev is now in comparrison to his opponents, based on Fury being actually quite a bit bigger I reckon he'd nab it tbh, Willard lost to an average 175 lb'r ffs, can you imagine Fury losing to Ovill Mckenzie?
