Watch this at quater speed and full screen. The low quality makes it hard to tell to what extent punches landing, but you can see atleast that speed miss, and he moves his head with most of the rest.

A large barrage of punches, but very little, if any, land clean.

Stands square on , stiff legged and has no head movement whatsoever. Can barely land a clean glove on a punch bag.

If you think this guy was an an elite level boxer , then you simply don't understand the sport. He was good , but not great.

I'm quoting Roy Jones, a p4p fighter who knows what he's talking about. Vitali impressed him. Watch the TKO at the end of the Williams fight to hear Jones comment on HBO. Roy Jones jr really isn't a Klitschko fan, but I'm sure you know that already.

p4p has nothing to do with being paid to talk up a fight. Foreman swears his grills are the best too.

Did I read you say Vitali was good at something? Congratulations, Dino!

Taking myself out of the reply and using facts, we are talking about a first ballot hall of fame boxer, a man who never lost more than three rounds in any fight ( Showing how good of a boxer he was ), a boxer who was never floored by a punch, and owner of a fantastic boxing comeback past the age of 36. If you want fighting versatility he was also the heavyweight kick boxing champion, and accomplished all of the above despite multiple injuries that stem from his kick boxing career.

None of the above really fits the word good, but I think for once you are trending in the right direction! I'm giving you a rare thumbs up.

Vitali was a very good judge of incoming shots and would sway back away from them. This is a sound tactic against smaller guys but he was badly found out trying it with Lewis.
He also had a tendency to throw arm punches.

We have been over this before.

Solis was ranked #9 at the time of the fight, Johnson un-defeated and ranked 10th at the time of the fight. These are facts. Please learn & accept.

Chisora should have been ranked as he beat Helenius, and was ranked later post this fight showing he did in fact belong in the top ten.

Charr is a one of the world champions these days.

I'd have to check where Sullivan, or Williams at the time of the fight, I'm pretty sure Williams was ranked in the top ten before. He's a maybe. Sullivan was ranked in the top ten before they fought I think but not at the time they fought.

Purrity was a punching bag revenge fight.

    Mahone un-defeated

    Norris a cruiser weight champion.

Sosnowski wasn't ranked but had good results vs others who got title shots.

    Briggs a former lineal champion.

Roy Jones jr is not a cheerleader type. Dino has passed you as a poster.

Why don't you call him what he was when Vitali faced him?

An unranked 40 year old man who was completely irrelevant and undeserving of the title shot Vital gave to him.

People know who Vitali fought. My description (not yours) is what comes to mind when you list Briggs.

No. He's absolute bum who was stripped of his paper title because he needed roids before fighting a 46 year old Fres Oquendo who hasn't had a win in 5 years.

Vitali resume is defined by losing to the two best guys he fought.

And those two guys wren't anywhere near their best form.

Lewis - old , fat , slow and woefully underprepared.

Byrd - took the fight from the couch on a weeks notice. Had never seen footage of Vitali in his life. Totally winged it and still won.

I think that some historical context is necessary here:

Some referees of the era simply did not take jab's into account when scoring fights.

They were not treated as damage causing punches.

This meant that it was a high risk strategy to hide behind your jab for the entire fight.

You might get the nod, or you might not.

That is why many fighters of the ea chose to lead with a left hook or another punch.

Despite all of this, Willard seems to have used the jab as his main weapon the majority of the time, and he seems to have used it to set up his right hand.

Yes, but great fighters still do it from time to time.

Tyson occasionally did a cheeky one.

That may or may not be true, however, it doesn't change the fact that in this hypothetical head to head Vitali has by far the sounder techique and would use it to much better effect. And that's what matters.
