I think Willard would be better fighting bigger men than the small greasy fast boxer punchers he could not match the speed of....he has good hands and a good right hand long and straight...he could certainly adjust to the slower punches of the big men like the Klitchkos easier than Dempsey and Johnson speed.....the fight could be better than many think

    Most people to be honest.

If he had looked like John Ruiz while compiling his record, then he would be very forgettable.

    Willard was pretty dreadful IMO.

Vitali was hardly slow. He was a gunslinger too, a good combination puncher and could mix it up.

Well, Vits did annihilate Hide who was pretty good. But in general I agree with you. Klitschko uses a conservative style and as a result outboxes his opponents by a wide margin. Willard is pretty damn tough and I see him hanging around for a while before the referee stops it.

I see no physical advantages for Willard. He may have an inch in height and slightly more reach. But Vitali's 250lb is shredded muscle, whereas Willard is carrying fat. The footage clearly shows Vitali is faster, lighter on his feet and blessed with much better reflexes. Vits has a huge workrate compared to Willard, and while one might be tempted to give a stamina edge to Jess because he fought 25+ rounders, I think it would be terribly misguided. Not only has Vitali always had a great engine himself, but by the time they got to any sort of depth in the fight where stamina might count, Willard will long since have been carted off to hospital.

Only by the largest stretch of the imagination. Willard jumping in and out will get him absolutely nowhere vs a modern SHW, nevermind Vitali.

I enjoy a good massacre from time to time. You could be right.

Here's a video of Frank Moran with a 77' reach having no trouble at all landing on Willard.

Here's a video of Willard vs Frank Moran*, where he demonstrates a relentless attack typified by standing around like a mummy with his hands by his waist. Notice how the dentist tags him repeatedly with the sort of haymakers one can see at your local redneck pub at closing hours:

Jameel McCline would put Willard in hospital.

    * Yes its the same video. People like Dino have a cute tendency to pretend they never saw stuff, ergo "it doesn't exist".

No it isn't. His resume is dire.

How many crap fighters got a reputation for doing well against Vitali. What does that tell you?

Moran struggles to land anything on Willard. I've not watched it for a while, but for the first minute is Moran being cautious, mixed with Willard giving him a beating.

Dude, I can't help you. His resume absolutely shits all over Willards and there's a ton of guys (Briggs, Adamek, Arreola, Sanders ETC) that Klitschko beat that I think would beat Willard as well.

 Who ever "did well" against Vitali? Even Lewis himself was behind on the cards. People were lucky to win 2-3 rounds off him in fights. Is there another Vitali that you're confusing with him, perhaps?

When vitali faced a real full on champ in that champs worst shape, he was blitzed inside half time. You'd fear for him facing a prime one.

Have to go with the full world champ really, but vitali would give it a go and would make a fair contender back in the day when there were no bitpart titles to share out with a bunch of titlists.

    ^ The anti-Klitschko view, gents.

Soon Dino will be along to tell us how Vits would lose to Dicky Ryan.

dont be offended by the difference between an undisputed champion and one who needs his brother or a 4 way split title in order to win a single title.

this is not personal towards you, dont be hurt. Basic logic shouldnt prompt you to label that logic "anti-klitschko" - it makes you look not only wrong but spiteful in your mistake.

    Ladies and gentlemen. Vitali's resume:

Briggs who'd done nothing in years, even at his best struggling with George Foreman approaching 50, and went the distance with him despite a torn bicep.
Adamek, a light heavyweight that beat a few past it former contenders and journeymen at heayweight
Arreola, who's reputation came largely from his fight with Vitali.
Sanders, who if he fought in the 20's would be proof of how much the sport has advanced, and was KOed quicker by Hasim Rahman, and Nate ****in' Tubbs

    His resume is garbage.
