1) Bute had 9 months to face his mandatory, not a full year.
2) Andrade dropped to the thirs rank (if you count Bute, he was then the 4th man in the IBF rankings). That's what the rules tell when the championship fight is close. All the associations' rules are about the same on that subject.

Andrade did have to fight an eliminator in April 2009 with the other guy the was highly rated in the IBF category back then, which was Tsypko.

 

The IBF ain't worse than other organizations. Should we really go through the others in various weight classes ? All of them are equally corrupted except some have more solid ties with the biggest promoters & managers.

The fight between Bute and Froch would have taken place in September 2009. Bute had a decision to make, take Froch and unite belts or fight Andrade right away, his mandatory again that left doubts in most people's minds.

Bute chose Andrade to clear things up. Initially the Andrade fight was thought to take place before November 2009, therefore a date with Froch prior was not possible if the Andrade rematch was to take place.

Very shortly after the decision was made, the Super 6 was confirmed.

Let's also not forget that Team Froch chose another path towards a belt when INTERBOX and them were offered an eliminator fight for the right to face the IBF champ. INTERBOX was willing ...Hennessy, not Froch, opted for another way !

I have a bad feeling about this fight, i don't know why but Bute seems to be a little soft, slow, weak and nervous, uncertain like he is not connected to this fight like he was before; i can't even imagine what a loss in this fight would be for Bute and his future career. atsch
