Hey play nice Mr. Bill , I extended the olive branch to you , I forget which thread though. He did beat the **** out of Ray Mercer twice ( only one win...politics at play as usual). He beat that Buster Douglas guy, little Georgie Chaplin who gave Cooney fits for ONE whole round, Obed Sullivan ( I am grasping for straws), Some samoan name Pootah or something ( grasping again), and as elder avoided getting raped by younger Golata's and Rahmans, you know holding his own.
He should have won against Holmes too, he scared the **** out of Carl Williams, as a matter of fact he told me against Williams that was his best fight and has a blown up poster of him flooring Williams (seriously)

Jesse Fergussons career= more better wins then Moping Gerry Cooney. Dino Denis serves me pizzia sometimes , a career he was already well into by when he fought cooney, I'll ask him what he thinks. Wait other then Jimmy Young ( Awkard Cut, from a.... elbow maybe ? You don't see cuts like that from punches, cooney threw a lot landed some but missed a lot more, big guys get tired when they throw a lot of punches I hear, Also some one mentally fragile like Cooney might get worried if someone takes his best punch and is still standing)

Ron Lyle - That was not a 40 year old Ron Lyle, a imposter named Johny Paycheck. Pathetic effort from lyle even though that was a good body shot by the mopping Irishman)

Ken Norton - 54 seconds ... I think norton had a lot more left physically then some suggest see his previous 10 round up tempo win over tex cobb.... mentally who knows why he was there but he lost so it doesn't matter

dino dennis - Was cooney 4th best win.... what does that tell you

I just reviewed my '93 tape of Jess Fergy's challenge to Bowe at RFK stadium....... I do like and respect Fergy as a perineal (Never Solid) contender of the late 80s and early 90s, but Fergy froze like a rabbit under a spotlight against "Big Fatty" Bowe....... Referee Larry Hazzard was very generous to Fergy and gave him every chance in the book to make a serious effort...

Yes I am not sure if i would say cooney froze against spinks or mental fragility took over.... But I will say Riddick Bowe is a little more fierce then Michael Spinks was, at hvy anyway. Yes Jesse Fergusson lost a lot more then cooney did, why ? Because Fergusson faced the best fighters of his era while cooney did not ( Phil Brown and Eddie Gregg..... umm no)

To me, Cooney didn't freeze against Spinks... No.... Cooney tried like hell and was there to fight in rds 1 thru 4, but his rust and inactivity led to his 5th round demise in 1987... Spinks simply was more sharper and precise....

As for Jess Fergy in 1993, well, I didn't like his facial expression prior to the opening bell against Bowe in Virginia... Fergy was tight and looked like he had **** his shorts walking into the ring... He was frozen.....

Maybe fergusson did try, its easier to look like your trying against a good fighter then a great fighter. Bowe was far superior to Spinks. If i had a time machine i could only imagine 87 cooney getting clobbered by 93 bowe, cooney would not have done any better.

I think Arreola would have beaten fergusson at his best , at least the way he has looked lately. maybe you think the same, common ground perhaps

He might have done a bit better or he might have done a little worse. But at the end of the day I don’t think he’d be a top player and certainly not a champion. I give him credit for what he did but I just don’t think he was that good. Add that to the fact that he’d be in there with a lot of much bigger men and his chances get that much less

Top 10. He often fouhgt 4 times a year , going into fights unprepared and taking multiple losses. A well prepared Ferguson is better than the likes of Dillian Whyte, Chisora , Takam , Jennings etc

Pre-Tyspn Ferguson could be a top-ten guy with the right backing.

Mentally damaged Ferguson with sparring partner syndrome would be a poor man's Chisora.
