This is already official, apparently - part of the Ring IV card in Riyadh along with Norman Jr. vs. Haney and Benavidez vs. Yarde in November. Super flyweight unification - with the WBC (second defense of Rodríguez), WBO (first defense of Rodríguez) and WBA (second defense of Martínez) titles on the line. Not a complete unification, however, as Martínez no longer holds the IBF, dropping it between his 1st and 2nd matches with Kazuto Ioka (now held by Willibaldo García Pérez). One man's 0 has got to go! Both debuted in 2017 and have remained unblemished without so much as even a draw. The southpaw Texan is nine years younger and two inches taller with a three inch reach advantage over his Argentinian peer.
Should be a fun fight. Martinez is a buzzsaw and probably makes it competitive early on but Bam will definitely take over in the later rounds. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Bam pulling off a stoppage.
It's going to be absolute fire. Guaranteed war. And when little guys war, it's amazing due to their speed and stamina. For all I enjoy HW's, every time I see a good war between little dudes, I think "why do I bother caring about HW"? My only prediction -- it does not go to the cards. The fight ends with one man on his back. I hope it's Puma, because I'm a fan of Bam and he's from my state, but this one is near 50/50. Maybe 55/45 in favor of Bam?
