I wasn't going to watch this, but this is turning into a great fight. Back and forth, from boxing to trading. The right hook with 20 seconds left clearly earned Pac the 8th. 4-4, Pac by a point

Pac won that round. Vargas landed 1 good right hand, but Pac came back with more shots near the end.

 

Round 8

Pacquiao is doubling and tripling flash throwaway southpaw jabs, and then barreling in with the left cross. Vargas is holding Pacquiao at bay with the jab and crouching back to spring-load a right hand counter, missing a few times but finally rocking Pacquiao with it, snapping his neck back sharply with it. Pacquiao is undeterred and continues to harry Vargas, creeping in close and then cutting to his left to keep Vargas turning, using a deluge of quick real & feinted jabs to disguise the path of the left and then landing it hard. Vargas battling him off bravely, just too slow and missing. Good right hook by Pacquiao.
